The General Assembly: this is highest governing body of the association and comprises of more than 3000 physicians (medical doctors) who are registered members of EMA
The Executive Board: This is responsible for the overall leadership, coordination as well as overseeing the overall organizational management and implementation of all programs and projects of the Association
EMA Secretariat: coordinates and manages all the technical and administrative implementation of programs and projects of the association at national level. The Secretariat is staffed with an Executive Director, and different operational departments under it (Business development and Program Management, Admin and finance, Communication and members affairs and Ethiopian Medical Journal and publications). It has a total of 22 full time staffs with diversified qualifications and 1 par timer legal advisor.
EMA Branch Offices: Offices that coordinate and manage all technical and administrative programs and projects of EMA at respective geographic localities. There are nine regional offices located at Bahirdar, Gondar, Dessie, Mekele, Harrer, Adama, Jimma, Arbaminch and Hawassa.
Ethiopian Medical Association (EMA) Technical Advisory Committees: These are committees established thematically to counsel and technically advise the Executive Board members of EMA on various policy and programmatic issues on the health sector. Individual Advisory committees will have their own specific Terms of References that indicate their roles, responsibilities, authorities, accountability, domains of activity, and plan of actions. These committees facilitate the execution of the various functions of the Association as well as help in addressing important issues that may arise from time to time. Currently, the standing/Advisory committees of the association include: Medical education, Medical care, Continues professional development (CPD), Medical ethics and professionalism, Medical scholarship/research and Physicians well-being and members affairs.
