CEO Vacancy: Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital (TASH)

Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital (TASH), under the College of Health Sciences, Addis Ababa University (AAU), is seeking a Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This is a full-time position in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, requiring exclusive engagement (no other academic or part-time jobs).


Key Responsibilities Summary

The CEO will provide strategic leadership and overall management, focusing on transforming the hospital into a high-performing, patient-centered, and financially sustainable institution.

Key duties include:

  • Providing strategic direction and implementing Board policies.
  • Overseeing efficient, patient-centered clinical operations and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
  • Leading financial planning, budgeting, and diversifying revenue streams.
  • Building a high-performing leadership team and promoting staff welfare.
  • Supporting the integration of teaching and research within clinical services.
  • Representing the hospital to partners, the Ministry of Health, and the public.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education (Required): Specialist Medical Doctor OR Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH).
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare leadership or hospital management. At least 5 years must be at a senior executive or director level in a large teaching or referral hospital.
  • Key Skills: Strong leadership, deep understanding of health systems, an entrepreneurial mindset for financial sustainability, and proven experience in strategic planning and institutional reform.
