Professor Demissie Habte, the first Ethiopian pediatrician, former president of Ethiopian Medical Association has been awarded the Hakim Workneh and Melaku Beyan Society Award for his exemplary contribution in the field of medical practice and education in Ethiopia.
Professor Demissie has dedicated his career to the care of children, and has made significant contributions to the development of pediatrics in Ethiopia. He is one of the founding members of the Medical Science Faculty at Addis Ababa University, and has served as a professor of pediatrics at the university for over 40 years.
Professor Demissie is also a renowned researcher in international peer-reviewed journals. His research has focused on a range of pediatric health issues, including malnutrition, infectious diseases, and developmental disorders.
