Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed accentuates the need for fostering cooperation amongst health actors.

On the occasion Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed accentuated that governments and private sector by far needed to team up so as to ensure equitable health access in a way of bringing affordable and quality healthcare for all.

The statue is built in recognition of the role Emperor's contribution to Africa’s liberation and unity leading up to the founding of the Organization of African Unity in 1963.

Source also indicates that Emperor Haile Selassiea had a vision of seeing a modern medical system for Ethiopia.
In the mean time the Emperor helped establishment of the Ethiopian Medical Association (EMA) on 20 July 1961 by way of a charter granted.

By the same token the association dedicated the first issue of Ethiopian medical journal Vol1: no. 1 published July 1962 to Emperor Haile Selassie.

Besides the emperor was the association’s patron1.


EMA’s first constitution was also issued the same year and it made membership open to all health related professionals.

On the occasion EFDRE president Sahlework Zewde underscored the center would play a prominent role in providing inclusive care service particularly for patients struggling infertility and other reproductive problems.

Ministry of health Dr Amir Aman for his part cherished the centers role in facilitating the provision of family planning service.

The center that offers counseling, family planning procedures and safe abortion care is run by St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College. Source MOH

Ethiopian Medical Association (EMA) is delighted to announce the 4TH Edition of EMA-Run in line with its 55th Annual Medical Conference and International Health and wellness exhibition.

The EMA-RUN will take place on 24th of February 2019.

It is a 5km race through the main streets of Addis Ababa located at 10,000 feet above sea level with the motto “Run for wellness”.

EMA is therefore excited about the opportunity to increase awareness of physical activity is the best way to receive the health benefits.

This year’s EMA-RUN is expected to attract well over 5000 participants and enjoy a perfect running path that is safe and accommodating!
