The National Hakims Day was celebrated both in Addis Ababa and other EMA Regional Branches with colorful events. Hakims Day in Ethiopia established by the Ethiopian Medical Association to be recognized and celebrated every year on 2nd of July as National Hakims day.

The first Ethiopian Hakims Day was celebrated with the initiation of Ethiopian Medical Association in Ethiopian Public Health Institute/EPHI/ and Harmony hotel with a collaboration of St Paulo’s Hospital and Millennium Medical College and Jhpiego, respectively.

The first event was organized at Ethiopian Public Health institute/ EPHI/ while inviting guest presented including Honorable minster Dr Amir Aman Minister of Health, Physicians, and other invited guests.

The second part of the program was being celebrated at Harmony Hotel by take parting different part of the society such as invited physicians, Ethiopian artists, media professionals and other individuals for testimonial for being well and healthy for the treatment they got to stands from their chronic illness.

Panel discussion was part of the colorful doctor’s day celebration that presented by physicians who are representing different age group with the topic of Past, present and future contribution of Ethiopian hakims by Prof. Mesfine Araya, Dr.Mahlet Tesfaye and Dr. Melaku Taye respectively.

Media professional journalist Adam Tadesse also invited as panelist to view the contribution physicians to the community  from the media perspective.

I want to recognize each and every physician for the contributions you make, day in and day out, to keeping us not only safe and healthy but also for the many sacrifices you’ve made on behalf of your patients. The program also includes a documentary about the daily life of Ethiopian doctor’s with the title of Brave Hearts // and testimonial of patients about the medical doctors treatments while they were taking a care by their attendant doctors. 

Besides to EMA main office National Doctor’s Day organization, branch office like Mekele and Arbamich celebrates Ethiopian doctor’s recognition day with different activities.

It is with a deep sense of sadness that the Ethiopian Medical Association(EMA) announces the passing of Professor Edemariam Tsega at the age of 80 years, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada on January 1, 2018.

Professor Edemariam was among the giants of modern medicine in Ethiopia who spent his most productive professional life in the department of Internal Medicine of the School of Medicine, Addis Ababa University(AAU) from the 1970’s to the 1990’s.

Edemariam was an excellent teacher, clinician and researcher who is globally recognized for his seminal work on liver diseases and particularly viral hepatitis in Ethiopia. Professor Edemariam did his medical training in McGill University, Montreal, Canada and returned to Ethiopia as a fully qualified Internist and Gastroenterologist in the early 1970’s.

He ably led the Department of Internal Medicine for a period of 16 years and built the department into an academic department with many subspecialty services and a vibrant undergraduate and residency training program. With his leadership, in 1979 the department became one of the first departments in AAU to offer graduate training.

He rose through the academic ranks in AAU and became a full professor in 1981 becoming the second person that AAU appointed as a full professor. During his long period of service in AAU Professor Edemariam served a term as the Dean of the School of Medicine, AAU. He served as the President of the Ethiopian Medical Association at the 1980’s and his term was marked by a rapid growth in the number of research presentations association’s annual conferences.

Professor Edemariam emigrated to Canada in the mid 1990’s but maintained his contact with his home country through regular academic visits to the University of Gondar where he taught undergraduate medical students and provided endoscopy training to specialists in internal medicine and surgery.

He is survived by his wife, Dr Frances Lester, and their four children. 
The EMA extends its condolences to his immediate and extended family and to his friends, colleagues and former students.

የኢትዮጵያ ህክምና ማህበር ከዘጠኙም ቅርንጫፍ ማህበራቱና ሶሳይቲዎች ጋር ሲመካከር የዋለ ሲሆን
ዶ/ር አበበ በቀለ የሌሎች አገራት ተሞክሮን ዋቢ በማድረግ ባቀረቡት ጥናታዊ ጽሁፍ ማህበሩ የህክምና ሙያውንም ሆነ ሃኪሙን ከመወከልና ከማገልገል አንጻር ሚናው የጎላ እንዲሆን ማህበሩ እንደ ማህበር መቀጠል፣ ወደ ቦርድነትና ኮሌጅነት ማደግ ይኖርበታል፡፡
በውይይቱ የኢትዮጵያ ህክምና ማህበር የሶሳዪቲዎች ጋር ያለው ግንኙነት ከማህበራት ወንድማማችነት መውጣት አለበት፣የሶሳዪቲ መብዛት የሳይንሱን ማደግ ምልክት እንጂ የኢ.ህ.ማን የሚያዳክም መሆን የለበትም የሚሉ ተደጋጋሚ ሃሳቦች የተንጸባረቁበት ነበር፡፡


በውይይቱ ሶሳይቲያቸውን ወክለው የመጡት ተሳታፊዎች ሲናገሩ ለብቻችን ሄደን ልናሳካ ያልቻልናቸውን ጥያቄዎቻችንን መልስ ልናነኝ የምንችለው አብሮ በመስራትና ማህበሩ ሁሉንም ሶሳዪቲ ወክሎ የሚቆም ጠንካራ ማህበር ስናደርገው ነው ብለዋል፡፡

በመሆኑም ሊያሰራ የሚችል የረጅም የመካከለኛና የአጭር የጋራ ስትራቴጂክ እቅድ አውጥቶ በቶሎ ወደ ትግበራ መግባት አለበት የሚል ስምምነት ተደርሷል፡፡
ፕሮፌሰር ማርቆስ ተስፋዬ ስለ አባልነት ገለጻ ያደረጉ ሲሆን ሃኪም እንደ ሃኪምነቱ የኢ.ህ.ማ አባል መሆን ይገባዋል በሶሳዪቲና በማህበሩ መሃል ልዩነት መፈጠር የለበትም የሚል ሃሳብ ተነስቶበታል፡፡
ስለ ማህበሩ ህንጻ ግንባታም መሬቱ የተሰጠው ለሃኪም እስከሆነ ድረስ ሁሉም ሃኪም ሁሉም ሶሳዪቲ በባለቤትነት ስሜት ለህንጻው ግንባታ የራሱን ድርሻ መወጣት አለበትም ተብሏል፡፡
በዶ/ር ትህትና ንጉሴ የማህበሩን 54ኛ ጉባኤ በማስመልከት ገለጻ የተሰጠ ሲሆን ሰፊ ውይይት ተደርጎበታል፡፡
በዘንድሮው የማህበሩ 54ኛ ጉባኤ ከጥር 14-20/2010 ድረስ በአዳማ፣አሰላ፣ጥቁር አንበሳ፣ጳውሎስ፣ዘውዲቱ፣አያት እና ቤተል ሆስፒታሎችና የህክምና ኮሌጆች የደም ልገሳ የሚደረገ ሲሆን የህክምና ባለሞያው የደም ልገሳው የተዋጣ እንዲን መቀስቀስ እንደሚኖርባቸው ዶ/ር ትህትና አሳስበዋል፡፡
ፓናል ውይይቶች ርዕስም
ጥራት ለህክምና ትምህርት፣ጥራት ለህክምና አሰጣጥ እና ጥራት ለህክምና አቅርቦት ላይ ሲሆን state of the ART lecture ሶሳይቲዎች አቅራቢና ርዕስ መምረጥ ድርሻን እንዲወስዱም ተብሏል፡፡
እንዳለፉት አመታት ሁሉ ለሶስተኛ ግዜ የ5 ኪሎ ሜትር የጎዳና ሩጫም ይኖራል፡፡

ኢትዮጵያ ህክምና ማህበር ዛሬ በአርባ ምንጭ ዩኒቨርስቲ ስምንተኛ ቅርንጫፉን ከ 60 በላይ የሚሆኑ የህክምና ባለሞያዎች በተሳተፉበት ከፍቷል፡፡
የማህበሩ ፕሬዝደንት ዶ/ር ገመቺስ ማሞ ለጉባኤው ስለ ህክምና ማህበሩ ጠቅላላ ገለጻ ያደረጉ ሲሆን ከጉባዔው የተነሱ ጥያቄዎችም ምላሽ ተሰጥቶበታል፡፡ ከ ጥያቄዎቹም ውስጥ በአገር አቀፍ ደረጃ ለሃኪሞች የሚከፈለው የዲዩቲ ክፍያ ወጥነት ሊኖረው ይገባል፣ የህክምና ትምህርትጥራት ላይ ማህበሩ ምን ሰራ፣የማህበሩ ህንጻ ለምን እስከ አሁን ሊሰራ አልቻለም፣ የሞያ ማረጋገጫ ሰርተፊኬት license ጉዳይ ለምን ማህበሩ አይዘውም የሚሉና ሌሎች ናቸው፡፡

 
በአጠቃላይ ማህበሩ ወደ ክልሎች መውረዱን ጉባኤው ያስደሰተው ሲሆን ይወክሉናል ያሏቸውን
